Contract farming and buyback agreement for medicinal herbs

Description: We have been engaged by Ayurvedic Medicines manufacturers of national repute to explore the possibilities of contract farming.

They are facing the challenge of ‘too much demand’. Since Ayurveda depends upon naturally grown plants and herbs, it is critical that supply chain is well integrated ‘from farm to treatment’. Unless contract farming and better supply chain integration takes place there is bound to be an upward increase in cost of ayurvedic medicines.

There is one more reason for integrated supply chain. Unscientific way of cultivation and unhygienic way of drying, packing and storing. As high as 30% of raw material reaching the manufacturer is of poor quality and is, therefore, rejected. Scientific cultivation of medicinal plants, therefore, needs to be supported with infrastructure for warehousing, drying, grading, storage and transportation.

Hope little background has helped readers to understand what type of buyback agreement we are looking for. We can facilitate 100% buyback agreement with the facilities that are designed for increasing the marketability of medicinal plants, adding value to the produce, increasing profitability and reducing loss. We will provide technical know-how and all necessary support to bring this system on earth for masses.

We invite proposals from farmers with landholding at least 5 acre for medicinal plant cultivation. Further he must be desirous to set up Drying Yards and Storage Godowns at strategic location. It will facilitate nearby farmers to sell their produce to this unit. Ayurvedic Medicines manufacturers have requirement of around 350 different types of herbs. Medicine manufacturers will purchase defined quantity of herbs round the year with payment agreement from such Drying Yards and Storage Godowns.

Setting up of Drying Yards and Storage Godowns require capital investment of Rs. 10 lakh with 50-100% subsidy. We will provide turnkey solutions i.e. from documentation to commissioning and execution of buyback agreement.

We intend to set up such units at district level. Interested persons are requested to inform: area of land, potential of herbs cultivation, number of farmers (with landholding area) who could be mobilized for cultivation when your unit will be functional. We will send you annual demand for all 350 herbs from medicine manufacturer and intention for buyback agreement upon request from serious and capable farmer-entrepreneur.
