What do I do with my new beverage idea?

Description: I have created a fantastic new beverage and want to know how to proceed.

Need from others: I need to find out what my options are. I'm sure two of those options are contacting a beverage company, have them taste this new elixir, and then negotiate from there if they like it and want to move forward. I would assume another option would be to patent it and then try on a small scale to sell it and hope it catches on first (thus attracting a big fish in the beverage community).
Are there other options to consider and/or resources to tap into?
I would think there is a step by step process to follow under either option.
